bringing your tree home

Let your tree sit in the garage or a sheltered area to rest and dry overnight before bringing inside.

make a fresh cut!

Before bringing your tree inside, cut an inch or so off the base and then set tree trunk into plain tap water. Make sure your tree stand can hold at 1 to 1.5 gallons of water.

tree set-up

Find a spot that’s away from any heat source. Check outlets, lights and cords for defects. Check lights before placing them on the tree. Turn your tree lights off before bed or when you’re not home.

very important! watering your tree

To keep it fresh, ALWAYS keep the tree stand filled with water. Sap can form over the stump if water drops below the base of the tree and prevent tree from absorbing water. The tree will absorb as much as a gallon of water in the first 24 hours and from there, one or more quarts per day. Water helps prevent drying and dropping of needles and keeps the tree fragrant.
